We released Online Maps v5, a major update to our mapping tool for Unity. In this release, maps go beyond the flat plane: Globe Control lets you work with a globe, place markers and drawings, use elevation data, and control the camera, while an atmosphere shader enhances the planet's appearance.
One of the key additions is Mapbox and MapTiler vector tile rendering. It supports layers, caching, interaction, and tile fallback. Vector tile data can now also be used to create buildings and TextMesh Pro labels.
We added built-in 2D marker clustering and GPS support in the Unity Editor and WebGL. The new architecture combines a shared dynamic-mesh system with separate-tile rendering. Online Maps also received a huge number of tweaks and code optimizations.
The documentation, API Reference, and Atlas of Examples have been migrated to the new engine, while the local JSON implementation has been replaced with SilkJson. Bing Maps elevation managers have been removed from Online Maps.
The update also adds Unity 6.5 compatibility and fixes an issue in RawImageTouchForwarder that previously returned a zero cursor position when the cursor was outside the element.
Online Maps v4 users can upgrade to v5 for free. Users of all other Online Maps versions can upgrade at a 50% discount.
