Online Maps v5.1 is now available, bringing new tools for map presentation, improved workflow flexibility, and support for the latest Unity releases.
One of the highlights of this update is Tileset Pivot Control, giving you more freedom over how 3D maps are positioned and transformed in your scenes. Globe projects also get a visual upgrade with a new URP atmosphere shader, while PBR tileset shaders now support color adjustments for easier integration with your project's visual style.
The Custom URL Wizard has been expanded with language and region options, making it easier to configure localized map services. A new Map Scale UI prefab provides a ready-to-use scale indicator, and the new Follow Game Object example demonstrates how to keep the map synchronized with a moving object.
Online Maps v5.1 also introduces AI Skills for common Online Maps workflows, helping AI coding assistants better understand and work with the asset.
Under the hood, the update improves runtime component settings persistence, vector tile materials, Undo support during map creation, inspector warnings, and several other parts of the editor workflow.
The release also adds Unity 6.6 support and includes compatibility fixes for Unity 6.3, along with fixes for location and zoom events, Tileset collider updates, and maps using dimensions that are not divisible by 256.
Online Maps v5.1 continues to make map development in Unity more flexible, predictable, and convenient — whether you're building a traditional 2D map, an interactive 3D Tileset, or a globe-based experience.
